Regarding the Entity 2lc, when you code to the Hibernate API, I think your getting lazy loading of the entities.  With JPA, I don't think we are lazy loading returned entities (which is why your seeing a difference).

Regarding query cache eviction (at the Hibernate session level), I'm not sure.
