If anyone looks at this, please understand this shouldn't be hacked in as some sort of a one-off.

When people change a configuration via the console/CLI whatever, they have an expectation that their change will be persistent. We have no mechanism now for persisting overrides to deployment descriptor data, and adding such a capability is a much greater task than just changing one particular item like the context path.
