Rich, regarding the dependency issue, I haven't jumped into doing that yet.  I still think that we should change the bidirectional 1-1 dependency between the persistence provider module (EclipseLink) and the persistence provider adapter module.  

The important change is to the persistence provider adapter module, to not depend on a particular persistence provider module.  I'm not as concerned with the other direction.  So, we probably could support many (persistence provider modules/embedded with application classes) to one persistence provider adaptor.

This isn't an easy change to make, since the persistence provider adapters may reference the persistence provider classes for various reasons (extending them or referencing them for various purposes).
