GWT supports the feature to precompress (as referenced in some of the console/admin discussions) via http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit/wiki/PrecompressLinker.  General users of jboss would also like this feature, whether it is GWT, or other artifacts precompressed through other tools.

Thinking this through, unsure how this would work through AJP instead of HTTP when fronted by Apache (or HTTP fronted by any webserver/proxy in front).
