Next to the JPA implementation of persistence, there is a "Map based" implementation of persistence in that can be found in the {{org.drools.persistence.map}} package of the {{drools-persistence-jpa}} module. 

It was added in 2011 by Diego and hasn't really been touched since then. 

If possible, I'd like to remove it before 6.x -- or at least move it to another module.
