You mention AS 7.1.1.Final in your description whereas this bug is marked for 8.0.0.Beta1. Which exact version are you using? If you are using 7.1.1.Final, then please try a later version, since from what I remember, the system property expansion in deployment descriptors was done post 7.1.1.Final.
