I got this to work with 2.2.3. I noticed that for some reason {{com.fasterxml.jackson.datatype:jackson-datatype-hibernate4:2.2.3}} has a dependency on 2.3.x versions of {{com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-core}} and {{com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind}}.

I changed the version in the POM and added some exclusions and new dependencies and it worked.
