Looking at this stack trace and the relevant code it kinda looks like Activiti is trying to use some kind of conversation scope from outside the scope of a web request, or possibly after the request has been committed? I can't say for sure as it does not include the full stack trace.

Weld could handle this case better, but it appears the root cause is Activiti trying to use the session when it is not available.
