In order to inflow and/or proxy authentication, we need some way to get a pre-configured SaslServer out of a domain or realm.  Ideally the realm/domain would provide the callback handler or other facilities needed to complete the authentication.  This would also allow proxying to an upstream authentication system.

Mechanism selection should be part of this API; however, protocols vary in their mechanism selection process.
