[~brian.stansberry], the CLIModelControllerClient inherits from AbstractModelControllerClient. Making the change in the RemotingModelControllerClient shouldn't impact the CLI.
I am wandering if the RemotingModelControllerClient would be designed to deal with a change of URI. A cleanup (close) seems required to switch from http to https configuration. Perhaps introducing a completely new ModelControllerClient implementation that would mute its configuration when redirect occurs.
