The issue is caused by [this|https://github.com/kiegroup/kie-wb-common/blob/master/kie-wb-common-stunner/kie-wb-common-stunner-client/kie-wb-common-stunner-widgets/src/main/java/org/kie/workbench/common/stunner/client/widgets/presenters/session/impl/SessionEditorPresenter.java#L75]. When the panel is maximised or minimised an event is raised and the observer forces the Palette to become visible. The "grid" editor of the DMN Editor hides the Palette as it is not needed however the described mechanism is re-showing it.
