Agreed. The issue this Jira was trying to fix when opening it, was not to require people to modify the wildfly module.xml descriptors (and maybe come up with something sleek on the way). This is no longer the case with use of {{module="..."}} attribute.

For anyone coming here looking for pointers, the WFLY-10634 introduces module="..." attribute for load metrics and WFLY-11043 will attempt to improve documentation.
