For the Expression option in the data type constraints dialog, I have suggested that we offer the user inline help text below the input area field. The help text could offer some general guidance and/or syntax tips when writing an constraint expression for the particular data type. I attached one example screen, and listed the supported types in the description. 
[~stetson.robinson] I assigned this to you for now, but realize that we need [~tirelli] 's input/recommendations for this. Thanks!
