According to https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_jboss_middleware_for_openshift/3/html-single/red_hat_java_s2i_for_openshift/index#providing_custom_maven_settings the user is able to provide its own settings.xml located in <app_dir>/configuration/settings.xml - this settings file then should be used for mvn build.

This clearly conflicts with galleon settings.xml. However, this is broken backward compatibility and should be somehow addressed.
