When the change to trim {{Name}} values is applied the _Input Expression_ for {{InputClause}} columns continues to function like a {{Name}} and its value is therefore trimmed (and possibly white-space [normalised|https://issues.redhat.com/browse/DROOLS-5062?focusedCommentId=13972166&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-13972166]: "Finally bonus point for normalizing spaces such as...)"
