[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - problem with HelloWorldWS Web Service

After creating the application in the start guide, exactly as written in the guide, the server does not deploy the application.
The message in the console is:
deployer: null
status: null
state: INIT_WAITING_DEPLOYER
watch: file:/C:/jboss-4.0.4.GA/server/deploy/MyWS/WEB-INF/web.xml
altDD: null
lastDeployed: 1155150857176
lastModified: 1155150857176
mbeans:

and so on for each component in the application.

Any ideas as to the reason for this failure appreciated...
