The book JBoss at Work by Marrs and Davis has a good chapter on setting up and using data sources.

You could also look at the Getting Started Guide at http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/getting_started/v5/html/db.html

And you could also search the forum for example code, such as at http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=88588.  Do a search on the term 'getConnection'.
