Yes, indeed, this was the problem. If you don't need WSRP, you can always remove the portal-wsrp.sar file from the jboss-portal.sar file as an alternative to upgrading JBoss WS.  I have updated the installation instructions to mention this issue (this was already in the WSRP chapter of the reference guide).
