Do this instead:

PreparedStatement pstmt = (PreparedStatement)conn.prepareStatement(sqlString.toString());

Looks like the prepared statement object returned is an instance of WrappedPreparedStatement, not OraclePreparedStatement.  Using a vendor-specific class for JDBC is not a good idea anyway.
