OK, I think I have tracked down the source of the problem. There is a partial JAXB api in jboss-j2ee.jar. I believe this is conflicting with my own JAXB jars. If I remove my own jars, then it can not find javax.xml.bind.Element, which does not exist in the jboss-j2ee.jar

Is there a work-around?
