It is not possible to get the calling object using the "execution" flavour. The NPE for the call pointcut looks like a bug, I have created a testcase and we should be able to get this fixed in cvs next week. Note that it might not be possible to use a PER_INSTANCE scoped interceptor in this scenario, but we will look next week. Does it need to be per instance?
