could you be a little more specific? 
I've been looking log4j.xml and it only contains one log4j:configuration tag. Inside it two appenders (one for FILE and other for CONSOLE) wich are the default ones.  If I delete one of this appenders, it throws an error telling that they're necessary...

On the other side, there are some limit categories, but i'm not very sure what are they for...
