Read the install doc that comes with the EJB distribution - it provides you with the simple instructions to do that (involves running an ANT script to overlay the EJB jars and config files overtop a JBoss 4.0.4/4.0.5 installation.

Or use the JBossAS GUI installer and select the EJB3 option.
