Steve,

for a complete list of the necessary steps to get jBPM working with PostgreSQL see the wiki http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmOnPostgreSQL.

Please check the settings in your hibernate.cfg.xml as described in step 7, especially if you have set the proper value in the attribute 'hibernate.dialect'.
