The mbean has an undocumented attribute: DateFormat:

<attribute name="DateFormat">yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss</attribute>
  | <attribute name="InitialStartDate">2006-09-01 21:00:00</attribute>

(This is for 4.0.3SP1, don't know how far back it goes).
