It's definitely your browser, have you tried doing a hard refresh? (ctrl-F5).  If you really want to prove it, edit jboss/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat55.sar/conf/web.xml and comment out the welcome-file-list section at the bottom of the file, then restart JBoss and try it again.
