No need. Figured it out.

Other non-dbms related posts got me to thinking and sure enough, MyEclipse was putting duplicate jars in the /web-inf/lib folder - when they were already in the ./default/lib folder. 

Removing them and restarting solved the problem.

Its just ODD that no error message appeared at all...
