Have you tried reading the classloading FAQs on the WIKI?
I guess not since you don't reference them.

All the behaviour you are describing is expected (as far as I can understand your
explanation from the information provided)
i.e. the usual duplicate classes, servlet style classloading and partial scoping problems.
