Strangely enough generating entities with Seam-gen from a MySQL database and a CRUD app works like a charm (changing column `table` char(2) in `table` varchar(5)).
Looks like the description in the Book of Michael Yuang of a production db does not match the new Seam 2.0.0 version :s
