What a stupid bug in JSF. So, the FacesMessage class is declared serializable, but it is in fact never serializable, because it has a non-serializable instance variable. And the JSF team don't see a problem with that! Aaaaiiiii....

Anyway, raise an issue against Seam, and I will work around this in the FacesMessages component.
