The wiki http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossVsJavaJDKVersionMatrix says JBoss 4.2.x runs under Java 5. And going by some of the posts that i have seen here, JBoss doesn't officially support Java 6 yet.
