Thanks for the help. I downloaded and built the booking example from C:\jboss-seam-1.3.0.ALPHA and it ran. It appears that ajax4jsf-1.1.0 depends on a number of apache commons jars, which the documentation specifically says it not needed. In fact, nowhere in the docs does it say what jars need to be in the WEB-INF\lib directory of your war file packaged with the ear.
