[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Holding values per task instance

Is there any way to hold variables at the scope of a task instance?  Using the VariableContainer it appears they are set at the scope of the process instance (?).   I need to hold some additional values for each task instance, e.g. such as the owner who additional to the actor responsible for actioning the task.
