I put following in portlet-instance.xml 


  |       <preferences>
  |            <preference>
  |                <name>name</name>
  |                <value>mohan</value>
  |             </preference>
  |          </preferences>
  | 

so the preferences are already set i just want to
fetch their value in java code.
