[jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - Memory not released after shutting down JBOSS, memory leak?

After rebooting FC 6, then start JBOSS.  The total memory usage is about 600M.  After accessing the web application deployed on the JBOSS for about 3 hours, the message usage is about 3.5G. Then shutdown the JBOSS.  But the memory used is still shown as 3.5G using TOP command. 

Is this a memory leak?  

Java JVM 1.6
FC 6
JBoss 4.0.5GA
