we put initial_hosts to try and fix the problem - when we didn't specify initial_hosts we still had the same problem. so if i understand what you are saying i need to:

1. remove the initial_hosts from PING
2. specify bind_addr in UDP

and that should solve the problem, yes? OK - i will try it and post again after testing.
