The booking example deploys fine on JBoss AS 4.2.1.GA with Seam 2.0.0.CR2 - and has the jndiPattern set.  Grab a clean copy of both, set the path to the unzipped AS in Seam's build.properties and run ant deploy in the examples/booking directory.
