Were you logged in as root when you extract the zip contents? Are you logged in as root when you run it?

Also, try setting JAVA_HOME to the JDK, and not to the JRE. On my system it is at /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_13

Did you install the JVM using yum? Perhaps you should try downloading and installing the JVM from the sun web site.
