Did you tried to increment the PermGen memory? I know this is just a work around, but as Sohil says it seems that OpenSAML is not to happy with Java 6, I know there are some issues related to Suns Java 6 and the class loading, maybe the error is related. But I just tested running with Java 6 (not building) the test application and didn't got any errors.
