The best way to get started is to hang around here in the forums and help others in any way you can. JBoss also has a wiki at  http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Main where you can share/use useful information about JBoss. 
Also, have a look at http://labs.jboss.com/community/contributeCode.html which has links to various possible ways of contributing to the community.
