You indicated that you were declaring "EJB 3 MDBs with annotations", yet this appears as if you are using EJB 2.x. (EJB 3 uses a 3.0 version XSD for ejb-jar.xml, you are using a 2.0 version DTD.)

Based on what I see in various tutorials, and looking at the documentation in the XSD, it would appear that the value for messaging-type should be javax.jms.MessageListener.

Finally, if you are using EJB3 MDBs with annotations, you do not need an ejb-jar.xml.

If none of this help, then please post the source for your MDB.
