Actually, I should provide some more information here. The example *-persistence-service.xml files that come with JBoss Messaging and with JBossAS 5.0 all have "Clustered" set to "true" and contain clustering information. I predict that if the *-persistence-service.xml files remain as they are, that this topic will be repeated quite often once 5.0 goes GA.
