I'm afraid that if you pursue this any further you might have to have someone come out and look at your systems. I have run JBossAS as a web service under XP, Vista (both 32 and 64 bit), and Windows 2003 (32-bit only) and have not experienced the system shutting down along with the service. I am pretty much running out of ideas about where to look. Best of luck to you.
