Does this mean that you now have 2 EAR files in the deploy folder? Or does this mean that the earlier EAR file is undeployed? If it's the latter, then the persistence unit jar should also have been undeployed.

Can you post the console logs (not server.log) from the point where your first EAR's deployment starts, till this exception happens?
