Try increasing the JBoss cache lock timeout. You can do this for the JBoss Cache configuration under portal-cms.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml on the cms.pm.cache:service=TreeCache mbean

in this case, the values have been bumped from its default values of 20 s and 15 s respectively to 2 min each

See if this helps and adjust your wait times based on the size of your archives. Bigger the archive (in terms of number of files it carries, longer the timeout needed)
