I used this log format to log session response headers in apache logs;  it of course doesn't have information on whether a session is active...

 LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b %{Set-Cookie}o"

%{Header}o  	 The contents of Header: header line(s) in the reply
