As suggested by the JBossMessaging team, do not use HSQL DB. As you have already read the JIRA and the wiki pages, HSQL DB is not reliable. You also noted that using MySQL fixes these error messages, so why not use MySQL? More specifically, is there any specific reason why you want to stick to HSQL? :)
