There's a better (read: newer) install doc here:

Note that you can't just update JBoss Tools 2.1.1 to 3.0.0; you need a clean Eclipse 3.4.2. 

JBoss Tools 2 won't run on Eclipse 3.4, and JBoss 3 won't run on Eclipse 3.3.
