Hi Huisheng and all, I'm still getting the same problem.
1. Removed jboss and jbpm-bpel install dirs.
2. Did a fresh install of both and configured them as mentioned in my original post.
3. Created the jbpm DB schema.
4. Deployed the process same as in original post.
Getting the same exception.  :(
