If you are using ports-01, you should probably run:
 
./shutdown.sh --server=localhost:1199
 
You can also use netstat to find out which  JNDI port it has open (1099, 1199, 1299, etc). The console log used to contain a entry that identified the port used but that went away a while back; I never understood why because it is a critical piece of information.
